Talent Tuesday: Clay in the Potter’s Hand

I think one of my children’s favorite things to do growing up was to play with clay!
1.  Spread a vinyl table cloth on your kitchen table and tape the ends under the table.
2. Use any kind of “clay” you’d like…commercially made clay or dough, homemade dough, clay from a local pottery shop or hobby shop, etc. Just something cool, a little sticky and easily pliable.
3. Dress the kids in old t-shirts and let them have at it! Make pinch pots, animals, bugs, hearts…let their imaginations run wild.  And mom…sit down, relax and join the fun! You may just discover a hidden talent.

We used real potter’s clay and real glaze and found someone who could “fire” the pot. I have in my treasure chest some dandy clay pot heirlooms that remind me of the time we spent creating. Great memories.
