I'm thinking of a Saturday afternoon, probably 16 years ago. I drove down to the car wash with my dad, and we washed the car and then sat in it while we talked and munched on french fries.. These one-on-one times were called "Special Days" in our family, and as the oldest of six children, I cherished time I got to spend alone with a parent. These days were rarely extravagant, but doing errands or going to the park was the perfect, memorable date for me.
Lately we've been making an effort to each spend time individually with our children. Time with daddy is especially fabulous to Elsie, who asks everyday, "Can you stay home from work and play with me?"
This picture of my sweeties was taken shortly after our second daughter, Zola was born. Hubby took little E to Build-A-Bear for an extra special you're-a-big-sister date. I hope we can continue Special Days for the next 20 years, and that our girls will always look forward to them!
