Work Wednesday: Save Together, Spend Together

These days, Elsie looks like a giant when she tries to awkwardly scoot along on the mini trike we gave her over a year ago. Yeah... she needs a cute, new, pink bike to ride around on. And hubby and I would also like to buy bikes for us so we can take family outings once spring rolls around.
Even with trying to buy used bikes, this purchase is gonna get rather expensive. So... cue opportunity to talk about money, teach patience, and spend time earning money together!
We had a family meeting and talked about how much fun we would have riding bikes together, and how we could make that happen. Then, we drew a picture on the large chalkboard in our kitchen, as a reminder of what we are working toward. We've planned to have a garage sale in a few months to earn the money, and Elsie can help me with de-junking the house for it. (She's especially good at taking things to the basement "yard sale" box.
She can be part of the process every step of the way. She's learning to have lots of patience, and hopefully the building anticipation will help her cherish that bike even more.
